Place, a sophomore, leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with 28 hits, a .475 batting average and a .492 on-base percentage. The Fullerton native is also the team leader in runs scored (20), stolen bases (7) and triples (2). Currently on a nine-game hit streak, Place has accumulated nine multiple-hit games in the first 16 contests.

Place is CSUSM's second student-athlete to be named CSUSM San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month in 2016. Last month, men's basketball player Declan Daly was honored.
