HOME AT LAST
The Cougars return home after six consecutive games away from their friendly confines, a span in which they went 3-1-2. After defeating Soka University, Great Falls, and Rocky Mountain, the Cougars dropped their first game of the season to San Diego Christian before drawing with No. 9 Biola and The Master's College. After Tuesday's contest with Westmont, CSUSM will have played six games in the last 11 days, only one of which was at home.

TOP 25 TALE
The Cougars were included in the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the first time in program history last week, coming in at No. 22. CSUSM earned the spot by virtue of its 5-0 start in which they outscored opponents, 17-4. The Cougars are still looking for their first win as a ranked program after going 0-1-2 last week.

WESTMONT PREVIEW
The Warriors have won four consecutive games since their season-opening loss at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Aug. 31. Since then, Westmont has outscored opponents 9-4 and most recently took down NCAA Division II opponent Fresno Pacific, 2-1, on Sept. 21. Cody Howen leads the Warrriors with nine points on three goals and three assists this year. CSUSM is 2-3-0 all-time vs. WC, having won the last contest between the teams, 4-2, on Sept. 5, 2011 in Santa Barbara.

BOUNCE BACK
CSUSM suffered its first loss of the year on Tuesday against San Diego Christian after having a pair of goals called back and the team reduced to nine men. The team rebounded resiliently, however, battling to tie ninth-ranked BIola 0-0 in La Mirada before coming back to score a late goal in a 1-1 tie at The Master's College. Eric Lopez and Diego Fontes, the two players who were red carded in Tuesday's match and missed Thursday's contest, combined for the goal vs. TMC.

HEY UTAH, GIMME TWO!
The Cougars will head to Salt Lake City for a pair of games over the weekend against Rocky Mountain and Westminster, respectively. The trip marks the second year in a row in which CSUSM will travel to Westminster's Dumke Field for a pair of contests. In 2012, the Cougars tied then-No. 12 Ashford, 1-1, before dropping a 3-1 game to Trinity Lutheran. CSUSM downed Westminster 3-0 in the team's last meeting in San Marcos on Oct. 30, 2012. The Cougars have already faced RMC this year, winning 4-2 in Las Vegas on Sept. 15.
