Box Score CLINTON, Iowa— The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team rallied back after losing a close first set to knock off fifth-seed Johnson & Wales (Colo.) in the A.I.I. Conference Semi-finals, winning 23-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-19. The Cougars clinched a spot in the finals against tournament host and second-seed Ashford at 7:00pm CST, or 5:00pm PST.
A.I.I. Player of the Year
Taylor DeGraaf led the way with her 18
th double-double of the year, recording 16 kills and 10 digs. Fellow first-team all-conference member
Markisha Henderson-Diaz had a large impact as well, tallying 10 kills and eight blocks. The freshman from Oceanside tied a school record with four solo blocks in the contest.
Alyssa Hubbard chipped in 14 kills, and
Alyssa Foster added 43 assists, seven digs, and three kills. Libero
Taylor Harris and
Brittani Esposito each had a game high 13 digs for the Cougars. CSUSM now stands at 25-11 on the season.
Cal State San Marcos likely needs a win to advance to the NAIA National Championships for the third straight year, as the winner of Saturday's final receives an automatic berth to the tournament. The final match can be
