CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos freshman
Diana Delgado collected her first collegiate individual medalist honors at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational, earning her the honor as this week's CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week.
Delgado was the only player to shoot under par with an one-under 143 score in the two-round tournament at Shadowridge Country Club.
The freshman from West Covina led the 13th-ranked Cougars to a tournament team victory by collectively tallying 18-over 594, three strokes better than top-ranked Lynn University. It was CSUSM's third tournament win this season.
Delgado scored a tournament-low 70 to open play on Monday before turning in a 73 in Tuesday's round. She finished two-strokes lower than second-place Alice Gotbring of Barry University.
This was Delgado's second CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week award. She was named the conference's top player for Sept. 8-14 after finishing second at the PLNU Sea Lion Invitational. She joins
Breann Horn as a two-time winner of the conference weekly honor.
CSUSM plays next at Biola's Eagle Invitational at The Grand Golf Club in San Diego.
