SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos' Avery Foster has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week.

Foster tied for the top spot on the leaderboard at CSUEB's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with an 8-under 136. At the end of 36 holes on the Corica Park Golf Course, Foster faced Seattle Pacific's Zoe Garcia in a playoff to determine the individual champion. Foster won on the second playoff hole with a birdie to secure the title. 
 
The Clovis native opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 and closed out on Tuesday with a 5-under 67. Foster tied for the tournament lead on par-4 scoring (-4) while registering 10 birdies.
 
Foster's efforts helped the Cougars win the tournament by 10 strokes as they posted a 13-under as a team (563). Ellaclair Leedom and Kiara Hernandez both finished in the top 10, placing third with a 6-under 138 and 10th with an even-par 144, respectively.
 
This is the fifth career CCAA Golfer of the Week award for Foster and her second with CSUSM. She has now won a Golfer of the Week award in three consecutive seasons. 
 
The Cougars will be back on the course on March 9-10 when they host the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational.
