SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Eager to get back on the field for the first time since March 8, 2020, Cal State San Marcos Head Baseball Coach
Matt Guiliano unveiled the Cougars' 2022 schedule on Monday.
Â
CSUSM's schedule includes 50 contests with 29 of those games occurring at CSUSM Baseball Field. Before beginning their 40-game CCAA schedule, the Cougars will play 10 non-conference games with all but one at home.
Â
"We're excited about the competitive schedule we were able to put together," Guiliano said. "After roughly 22 months since our last in-season game, we're ready to get our student-athletes back out on the field competing again. We're looking forward to seeing our fan base out at the field on Feb. 6."
Â
CSUSM will begin its season at home on Sunday, Feb. 6 as it hosts the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's (RMAC) Regis in a doubleheader. After the Rangers leave town, the PacWest's Concordia University Irvine will visit San Marcos for a midweek contest on Tuesday, Feb. 8. CSUSM will return the favor by visiting CUI on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Â
The Cougars will play their first four-game series of the season the following weekend as the RMAC's Colorado School of Mines visits CSUSM Baseball Field on Feb. 18-20. CSUSM will conclude non-conference play on Sunday, Feb. 27 as it hosts NAIA opponent LA Sierra in a doubleheader.
Â
Unlike previous seasons that consisted of CCAA teams in Northern or Southern California playing a split home-and-home series against each other, all four games in a CCAA series will now take place in one location. CSUSM will begin CCAA play on March 4-6 as it hosts Cal State LA. The Cougars will hit the road for their first road series of the season by visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 11-13. CSUSM will return to CSUSM Baseball Field on March 18-20 to face Cal State San Bernardino before rounding out the month at Chico State on March 25-27.
Â
The Cougars will play the first three days of April at home against Cal State Monterey Bay before trekking up to Cal State East Bay on April 8-10. Following its return from the Bay Area, CSUSM will host Sonoma State on April 14-16 prior to going to Cal Poly Pomona on April 22-24.
Â
CSUSM will play its final home games of the season on April 29-May 1 against San Francisco State before concluding the regular season at Stanislaus State on May 5-7.
Â
The top six teams in the CCAA standings at the end of the regular season will head to Chico for the 2022 CCAA Tournament at Nettleton Stadium on May 11-14.
