DURANGO, Colo. – The No. 7 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team saw its 2017-18 season come to a close Wednesday after finishing in a tie for sixth place at the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Golf West Regional at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colo. The Cougars tied with Midwestern State with a 72-over 936.
Sophomore
Jaime Jacob ended the week as the Cougars' top golfer with an 11-over 227, tying for seventh place. Jacob just narrowly missed out on qualifying for the NCAA National Championship after finishing fourth among the individuals not on an advancing team.
Freshman
Claire Hogle shot her best round of the tournament, a 76, to tie for 30th with a 18-over 234. Sophomore
Savannah Magallon took 37th after carding a three-round total of 21-over 237.
Junior
Sarah Garcia tied for 42nd with a 25-over 241 after turning in a 81 in the final round. Junior
Bergen Benedict carded her lowest round of the three-day tournament with a 78 to tie for 56th with a 30-over 246.
Top-seeded Dallas Baptist was the West Regional Champion with a 37-over 901. Also advancing to the NCAA National Championships are West Texas A&M (908, +44) and California Baptist (909, +45). Oklahoma Christian's Kate Goldwin, Tarleton State's Casey Wild and Emily Brennan of Midwestern State punched their tickets to the NCAA National Championships as the top three individuals.
