VISTA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's golf team sits in second place after carding a 4-over 580 on the first day of the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational on Monday at Shadowridge Golf Club.
The Cougars are three shots behind Chico State (577, +1) for the top spot. UC San Diego (591, +15) and Cal State Monterey Bay (153, +15) are in a tie for third place while Cal Baptist (592, +16) rounds out the top-five.
Senior
Chris Tuulik ends the day at the top of the leaderboard after carding an 8-under 136 including a field leading 13 birdies and the top par 3 scoring at 2-under.
Sophomore
Justin Vrzich is in a seven-way tie for 14th place with a score of 5-over 149 while senior
Braeden Koran ends day one just outside the top-20 in a four-way tie for 21st place with a 6-over 150.
Junior
Jordan McBrayer (153, +9) and freshman
Randy Vergel de Dios (153, +9) are both in a six-way tie for 33rd place.
CSUMB's Elis Svard sits just two shots behind leader Tuulik with a 6-under 138.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the final 18 holes at Shadowridge Golf Club. Tee-off is set for 7 a.m.
