SAN RAMON, Calif. – Darnell Taylor of the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 30 – Dec. 6, the conference announced Tuesday.
Taylor, a senior guard from Los Angeles, becomes the first CSUSM men's basketball player honored with the CCAA's weekly award. He averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while helping the Cougars to back-to-back victories against Humboldt State and Sonoma State.
In the Cougars' CCAA debut on Dec. 3 against HSU, Taylor scored the Cougars' last six points in regulation to help force overtime before contributing a pair of assists and a game-clinching layup with 15 seconds to play in the extra period. He finished with a game-high 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. It was his third straight game with at least 20 points and five rebounds.

Andrew Bournes for a key 3-pointer with 1:20 to play. He finished with 14 points, five assists and five rebounds while going 6-of-11 from the floor.
CSUSM is one of five undefeated teams in the CCAA after one weekend of play. The Cougars face CCAA-favorite Chico State on Saturday in Chico.
Taylor was also named the
November CSUSM Male Student-Athlete of the Month last week.
