SAN RAMON, Calif. – Dylan Healey of the Cal State San Marcos men's golf team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6.
Healey is the first CSUSM student-athlete to be honored with a Player of the Week award by the CCAA.
The senior earned medalist honors and lifted the Cougars to a six-stroke victory at the InterWest Wildcat Classic, their first tournament as a competitor in NCAA Division II.
Healey, a Franklin, Tenn. native, finished with a three-round score of 5-under 211 (72-66-73) and took the individual title by three strokes. His 6-under 66 in the second round pulled him into a tie for the overnight lead before he held off reigning CCAA Golfer of the Year Lee Gearhart in the final round.
Overall, Healey led the field of 85 with 15 birdies and par-5 scoring (-7).
Healey has won three tournaments in his collegiate career.
