Meghan Randig Honored as CCAA Women's Soccer Player of the Week

SAN RAMON, Calif. – Meghan Randig of the Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11, the conference announced Tuesday.

Randig, a sophomore midfielder from Los Alamitos, Calif., is the first-ever CSUSM soccer player, male or female, to be honored with the CCAA's weekly award.

She scored to help the Cougars tie 1-1 with visiting San Francisco State on Friday afternoon before netting the game winner in CSUSM's 1-0 shutout of Cal State Monterey Bay on Sunday. It marked the first time that she had scored in back-to-back matches in her short CSUSM career.

Randig's performances helped the Cougars snag four points (1-0-1) from last weekend's matches, lifting the Cougars from ninth place to fifth place in the conference table with a record of 3-3-2.

She now leads the team with three goals and six points on the year. In addition, she's put 70-percent of her 10 shots on frame, a team-high.

Randig is the second CSUSM student-athlete to be recognized with a weekly CCAA award this season. Men's golf's Dylan Healey earned CCAA Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6 after winning the InterWest Wildcat Classic by three strokes.
