SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos women's golfer Kiara Hernandez was named 2025-26 season's first FloCollege/CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week along with Cal State LA's Joshlyn Ayala. 

Both Hernandez and Ayala shot a 2-under par 142 to finish tied for second at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz on Sept. 15-16. 

Hernandez led the Cougars to a team title at the event as CSUSM tallied a 3-over 579 two-round score. The senior from Burbank, Calif., had the best score on Tuesday with a tournament-low 68.

Ayala led Cal State LA to a second-place showing at plus-nine 585. The senior from Downey had a share of the lead going into the final hole before bogeying.

Both Hernandez and Ayala are earning their CCAA Golfer of the Week award for the second time in their careers. Click here to see a complete list of past weekly award winners. 

CSUSM will be in action again on Sept. 28-29 at the Desert Classic at Avondale in Palm Desert.
