COURSE REPORT:  Cal State San Marcos' Madison Murr was crowned the NCAA Division II West Regional Individual Champion after posting a 3-under 69 in the final round on Wednesday, finishing with an 8-under 208 (72-67-69). With a fifth place finish, the Cougars have punched their ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championship on May 20-24 in Winter Garden, Florida.
 
FIRST TEE

• Tacking on five more birdies, Murr broke away from the field with two birdies and seven pars in her final round.
• Regan Barton tied for 17th with a 5-over 221 (76-70-75) while Diana Delgado came in close behind with a share of 22nd place with a 7-over 223 (72-73-78).
• Makenna Cabardo tied for 38th with an 11-over 227 (75-74-78).
• Hannah Anderson tied for 58th with a 17-over 233 (75-76-82).

• CSUSM ended the tournament with the most birdies at 43.
• Murr recorded a three-round high 16 birdies with the next person collecting 13.
• West Texas A&M upended Dallas Baptist's reign as the West Regional Champion, finishing nine strokes ahead with a 6-under 858.
• Murr is CSUSM's first west region champion in program history.

Joining Cal State San Marcos from the West Region at the NCAA National Championships on May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida will be West Texas A&M, Dallas Baptist, Cal State East Bay and St. Mary's (TX).  Maria Torres and Sofia Benavides of Oklahoma Christian will also advance and compete as individuals.
