COURSE REPORT: The No. 9/8 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team climbed up the leaderboard after posting a 3-over 291 in the second round on Wednesday in Eureka, Missouri. The Cougars will enter the final round in eighth place with a 20-over 596.

FIRST TEE

• Makenna Cabardo turned in the lowest round of the day for CSUSM, posting an even-par 72 on Wednesday.
• Caroline Wales, Regan Barton and Madison Murr each carded 1-over 73s in the second round.
• Wales moved up 12 spots and is in an 11-way tie for 12th with a 3-over 147 (74-73).
• Barton catapulted up 20 spots and is tied for 27th place with a 5-over 149 (76-73).
• Murr also moved up the leaderboard to a tie for 39th place with a 7-over 151 (78-73).  
• Cabardo had the biggest improvement for CSUSM, moving up a whopping 35 spots and is tied for 44th place with an 8-over 152 (80-72).
• Breann Horn is tied for 62nd place with an 11-over 155.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

• Dallas Baptist was the only team to card a score under par in the second round with a 3-under 285, propelling the Patriots to the top of the leaderboard with a 4-over 580.
• First-round leader Nova Southeastern (586, +10) dropped to third place after carding a 14-over 302 on Wednesday.  
• NSU's Olivia Gronborg remains the individual leader with a 7-under 137 (68-69) and holds a two-stroke lead over second-place Olivia Mitchell (139, -5) of Dallas Baptist.  
• The Cougars' 596 put them inside the top eight of which will advance to the medal-match play to determine the team's national champion following tomorrow's round.
• CSUSM moved up to third in Par 4 Scoring (4.24, +24).
• Barton and Cabardo have each accumulated 25 pars in the first round, ranking them tied for third in the tournament.
   

UP NEXT
The Cougars will conclude individual play on Thursday with the third round to determine the NCAA Division II National Championship individual medalist. The top eight teams following the third round will advance to medal-match play to determine the 2023 NCAA Division II National Champion. The Cougars will begin teeing off at 9 a.m. (PST) and will play alongside West Texas A&M and fellow CCAA member Cal State East Bay.
