COURSE REPORT:  The Cal State San Marcos men's golf team defended its CSUSM Fujikura Invitational title with a two-stroke victory after carding a 9-over 873 on Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Course.

FIRST TEE

• Playing as an individual, Greg Mouser was CSUSM's top golfer with a share of second place with a three-round score of 2-under 214 (71-71-72).
• Matthew Moss, who was also playing as an individual, tied for fourth with a 1-under 215 (74-71-70).
• Finishing in a four-way tie for seventh with an even-par 216, Matthew Pennington carded a 2-under 70 while Jason McElroy turned in a 1-under 71 in the final round.
• Cutter Ayres matched his second-round total of 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 16th with a 4-over 220 (70-75-75).
• Arman Rahgozar finished tied for 24th with a 7-over 223 (74-72-77).
• Patrick Jaksch tied for 39th with a 13-over 229 (72-80-77).
• Rounding out the individuals, Nick Van Vleet tied for 46th with a 15-over 231 (75-77-79) while Sam Theijs tied for 54th with a  21-over 237 (78-85-74).

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

• CSUSM and Cal State San Bernardino were the only two teams to turn in team scores under par with the Cougars carding a 287 in the opening round and the Yotes' a 286 in the second round. The lowest third-round score was Colorado State – Pueblo's 1-over 289.
• CSUP's Matt Millar was the individual medalist with a 9-under 207.
• CSUSM's Greg Mouser and Isaac Calderon of CSUSB shared runner-up honors with a 2-under 214.
• CSUSM and CSUP led the field in Par 4 scoring (4.15, +22).
• Moss and Mouser tied for third with 12 birdies.
• Four Cougars finished in the top 10 with two playing as individuals.

"This was a good week for our guys. Winning your home tournament is always a big deal. I am proud of some of the guys who stepped into the top 5 this week to get that home win. This is a good sign that we can win a tournament with different guys representing in the team competition. I am proud of all the guys and look forward to see what we can do the rest of the spring."
