12-Year Old School Record Falls at Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw a 12-year old school record fall at Long Beach State's Beach Invitational on Saturday.

TOP PERFORMANCES

Justice Chima shattered the school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.47. He beat out the previous school record of 21.79 set by Thomas McDougald in 2010.
Chima also matched his PR in the high jump with a height of 2.01 meters.
Jonathan Burton was CSUSM's top finisher in the 400-meter hurdles at 55.15. Nate Valencia posted a PR for the event at 58.25.
Burton, Chima, Hayden Sumner and Temidayo Fateropa posted a season-best time of 42.99 in the 4x100-meter relay.
Nick Melanese finished 20th out of 88 competitors in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.79.

CSUSM will return to action on Friday as it heads to UC Riverside for the Chris Rinne Twilight.
