Cougars Complete Five-Meet Week with Big Results

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's outdoor track & field team completed a five-meet week with a school record, an NCAA provisional and six top-10 program marks Thursday through Saturday.

PACIFIC COAST INVITATIONAL TOP PERFORMANCES
  • In the 4x100-meter relay, the group of Logan Wilson, Jason Wells, Adam Moe and Troy Thompson Jr. ran the fourth-fastest time in program history at 40.85 seconds, finishing as the top Division II team in the field and fifth out of 13 overall.
  • Joseph Sbuttoni IV had the fourth-best pole vault mark in team history at 4.63 meters.
 
LEOPARD INVITATIONAL TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Jacob Perez completed the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:33.00, finishing 17th out of 38.
 
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Sankalp Shastri ran an NCAA provisional time of 3:46.60 in the 1500-meter run
 
MT. SAC RELAYS TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Jason Wells placed ninth out of 41 in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.56 seconds – the second-fastest non-Division I time in the field.
  • Wells also placed 22nd out of 52 in the 200-meter dash at 21.40 seconds.
 
BEACH INVITATIONAL TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Logan Wilson broke the program's 16-year-old school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.75 seconds – beating his previous PR of 48.50 seconds. His time broke Nicholas Stein's previous record of 47.99 seconds set in 2010.
  • Logan Wilson ran the third-fastest 200-meter dash time in program history with a wind-legal 21.17 seconds.
  • Troy Thompson Jr. posted the third-fastest 100-meter time in team history at 10.64 seconds – improving upon his 2025 PR of 10.79 seconds.
  • Wilson, Wells, Moe and Thompson Jr. improved upon their 4x100 time at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a time of 40.82 seconds – the fourth-best time in program history.

UP NEXT
CSUSM will return to action on April 30-May 2 as it hosts the 2026 CCAA Championships at Mangrum Track & Field.
