CHICO, Calif. – The No. 19/11 Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team was well represented in the CCAA postseason awards, which were announced on Tuesday.

Senior guard
Akayla Hackson was named CCAA Player of the Year and CCAA Defensive Player of the Year, sophomore forward
Jordan Vasquez earned CCAA Newcomer of the Year and Head Coach
Renee Jimenez received CCAA Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.

Dynnah Buckner joined Hackson and Vasquez as All-CCAA first team selections. Junior guard
Kelsey Forrester landed on the All-CCAA second team with junior guard
Sydney Buckley receiving All-CCAA honorable mention.

This is Jimenez's third CCAA Coach of the Year honor in her career. The Cougars enter the postseason with a 17-game winning streak and the top seed in the CCAA Tournament. Prior to being named it in 2019-20, she was picked by her peers when she served as the head coach at Cal State Monterey Bay during the 2010-11 season.

Hackson was second in the CCAA in scoring with 15.9 points per game while ranking second in the conference in free-throw percentage (82.1%) and fourth in field-goal percentage (45.5%). Defensively, Hackson has set the tone for the CCAA's second-ranked scoring defense, which allowed just 59.3 ppg. The Sunnyvale native defended the opponents' best guard every game while ranking sixth in the conference with 2.2 steals per game. She also led the team in charges taken and contributed with 0.5 blocks per game and 5.0 rebounds per game.  Earlier this season, the Sunnyvale native became CSUSM's all-time career leader in made free throws (251) and recently moved up to second in the CSUSM record book with 1,114 points. She is 103 points from tying current career-leader Cassie Damyanovich. Hackson earned two CCAA Player of the Week honors this season. This is Hackson's third All-CCAA honor as she was named to the second team in 2019-20 and was an honorable mention in 2018-19.

Vasquez is 19th in the nation with a 55.7 field-goal percentage and 30th with 3.8 offensive rebounds per game. In the CCAA, Vasquez is sixth with 14.3 points per game and fourth with 8.7 rebounds per game. She has tallied a CCAA-best 10 double-doubles so far this season. The Moreno Valley product collected three CCAA Player of the Week honors this season and was CSUSM's first student-athlete to earn a national weekly honor after being named D2CIDA National Player of the Week on Feb. 8. A transfer from Fort Lewis, this is Vasquez's first time earning All-CCAA honors.

Buckner ranks third on the team in points (13.4), 3-point field goals (3.6), free throws (2.8) and rebounds (3.6) per game. Her 13.4 scoring average ranks seventh in the CCAA while her 45.1 field-goal percentage ranks ninth.  Buckner is fourth on the team with a 78.6 free-throw percentage. The Rialto natvie sunk a career-best five 3-pointers against San Francisco State and finished the game with a season-high 21 points. This is Buckner's first time earning All-CCAA honors.

In the NCAA Division II statistics, Forrester is 12th with 2.87 3-point field goals per game and 24th with a 42.0 3-point field-goal percentage. She has tallied at least one 3-pointer in all 23 games this season, sinking a career-best six against Seattle Pacific. The Davis product is averaging 11.3 points per game which ranks her fourth on the team. Forrester is leading the team in minutes played per game at 32.7 and is second with 1.2 steals per game. This is her first All-CCAA honor.Â

Buckley is dishing out a team-best 3.4 assists per game, ranking her second in the CCAA. She is averaging 7.9 points per game and ranks second on the team with eight blocked shots. The Stockton native registered a season-best 17 points at Cal State East Bay. This is her first All-CCAA honor.Â

Since joining the CCAA in 2015-16, CSUSM has tallied 17 All-CCAA award winners.

The top-seeded Cougars received a bye in the first round of the CCAA Tournament and will face the winner of Chico State and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m. Cal Poly Humboldt is hosting this year's tournament in Arcata.
