SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (7-17, 4-15 CCAA) fell 72-64 to San Francisco State (6-19, 4-15 CCAA) on Thursday evening at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM opened with a 10-4 run, capped by a Haan layup at 6:23 in the first quarter, and led 15-14 after one.
- A second-quarter surge fueled by a Kat Noa 3-pointer at 9:44 and a Lewis triple at 7:57 stretched the lead to 25-16, CSUSM's largest of the day.
- CSUSM carried a 30-29 lead into the halftime break after shooting 44.8% (13-of-29) to SFSU's 36.7% (11-of-30).
- The Cougars opened the third quarter strong as Yumul buried a 3-pointer at 5:51, helping push the lead to 44-36 at the 3:34 mark.
- SFSU closed the period on a push, but Lewis' two free throws with 10 seconds left sent CSUSM into the fourth with a 51-45 advantage.
- Haan's fast-break layup at 7:56 extended the CSUSM lead to 58-50 —its largest of the fourth quarter.
- The Gators rallied with a decisive run, tying the game 60-60 on a Samantha Myhr 3-pointer at 4:31 and taking their first lead on an Athena Brombacher layup at 3:33.
- A Tegan Gaines triple at 1:10 pushed SFSU ahead 67-62, and free throws in the closing seconds secured the 72-64 final.
