COURSE REPORT:  The RV/No. 24 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team captured its second consecutive tournament title on Saturday at the Dennis Rose Invitational in Waimea, Hawaii, on the Hapuna Golf Course. The Cougars won by 13 strokes with a 7-over 583 (291-292).  

FIRST TEE
  • Madison Murr was the top Cougar who finished with a share of fifth place with a 1-over 145 (72-73).
  • Breann Horn tallied a 2-over 146 (72-74) to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place.
  • Diana Delgado and Caroline Wales each tied for 10th place with a 3-over 147.
  • Makenna Cabardo tied for 18th with a 5-over 149 (75-74).

INSIDE THE SCORECARD
  • CSUSM began the trip with a win in Hawai'i Pacific's Shark Shootout earlier this week.
  • Delgado shot CSUSM's lowest round of the day with a 71.
  • The Cougars led the tournament in Par-3 scoring (4.22, +22), Par-5 scoring (4.80, -8), pars (119) and birdies (28).
  • Biola's Brady Turnquist captured the individual medalist honors after finishing the two-day tournament with a 2-under 142.
  • Murr dominated the tournament with 12 birdies, tallying seven of them in the final round.

"This was a great week for both teams. To leave with 3 wins and a 3rd place finish is awesome. Our women played solid golf all week, and it was great to see contributions from all 5 of our team members. Maria did a great job getting them ready in the practice round, and she kept them focused for the last two days. Great team win. The men knew they had a chance to win if they played well today."
