COURSE REPORT:  The (RV) Cal State San Marcos men's golf team carded the lowest round in the field with a 283 on the final day of the Chico State Wildcat Classic in Marysville, California. The Cougars ended the two-day tournament with a 2-under 862 for a share of fourth place. Matt Pennington led the Cougars with a 6-under 210 (69-71-70) to tie for 10th place.

FIRST TEE

• Pennington moved into the top 10 after turning in a 2-under 70 in the third round that featured five birdies.
• After starting the day with two bogeys, Greg Mouser recorded six birdies for a 4-under 68 to jump 20 spots to finish tied for 17th with a 1-under 215 (74-73-68).
• In his CSUSM debut, Patrick Jaksch also moved up the leaderboard to a four-way tie for 22nd after tallying an even-par 72 on Tuesday for a 1-over 217 (72-73-72).
• Arman Rahgozar tied for 35th with a 4-over 220 while Nick Van Vleet finished in 50th place with a 9-over 225.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

• CSUSM finished third in Par-3 scoring (3.08, +5). 
• Mouser's 68 in the final round was the lowest by a Cougar in the tournament.
• Pennington tallied 15 birdies in the tournament, just behind SSU's Collin Huang, Griffin Pace and Tyler Ashman of Chico State who finished with 16.
   

THOUGHTS FROM COACH HUTTON
"I am happy with the start to our season. We didn't make any putts yesterday and our par-5 scoring could have been better. We had the low team round of the day which helped us move up the leaderboard. It was a great way to finish the tournament and we are looking forward to next week."
