THOUGHTS FROM COACH HUTTON
"Yesterday was a somber day for the team, but we challenged them to come out and be the best team today. Tournaments aren't won on Mondays. That's the great thing about Tuesdays. The pairing format was altered due to COVID, which allowed us to test some of our players. We had Hickam in the one spot today to test her grit with being in that position, and she stepped up big time. I figured we had nothing to lose. Breann did her thing today by leading the charge. Despite one short missed putt (in the playoff), she was in full control today. Maddy, Diana and Makenna also bounced back big time to help out in this win. We haven't gotten off to the hottest start in each of our two first events. As a group, we all just talked about what we could do to put two solid rounds together. It's a short week with us hitting the road again on Saturday, but we will be ready."

INSIDE THE SCORECARD
  • This is CSUSM's second consecutive tournament win this season.
  • The Cougars jumped over Sonoma State in Par-4 scoring to take the top spot, finishing the tournament with a 4.13 average (+13).
  • Horn led the field of 104 golfers alongside CSUEB's Caroline Berg with Par 4-scoring averages of 3.95 (-1).
  • This is CSUSM's fourth consecutive win at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella (formerly known as the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate).
