ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Cal State San Marcos women's track & field team saw a school record fall at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Friday.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES

• Freshman Ana Mercado set a new school record in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:37.30 – 0.17 seconds faster than the previous record posted by Lucia Asbury in 2011.
• Also in the 600, Bri Chavira tallied the third-fastest time in school history at 1:39.86.
• Jax Heckers and Laura Georgelin became the first Cougars to ever compete in the 5,000-meter run in indoor competition. In Heat 1, Heckers finished 22nd with a time of 17:47 while Georgelin finished Heat 5 in sixth with a time of 18:26.03.
• In the 1-mile run, Marina McDonough was the top Cougar finisher as she finished 31st with a time of 5:08.44. Teammate Luz Mercado's time of 5:15.19 was the third-fastest in program history while Renee Laurenzana's time of 5:15.25 was the fourth fastest.
• Clarissa Garcia took 19th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.56.
• In the 200-meter dash, Sierra Julian posted the fifth-fastest time in school history at 26.43, and Toni Ayala had the ninth-fastest time at 26.96.
• Over in the long jump pit, Kiara Harrison advanced to the finals and placed ninth with a mark of 5.42 meters – second best in program history. Dymon Preyor took 22nd with the fourth-best mark in school history at 5.04 meters.
