CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos senior
Chris Tuulik carded an even-par 144 (70-74) on day one of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Golf Championships on Monday. As a team, the Cougars will enter Tuesday's final round tied for sixth with a 22-over 598 (294-304).
Tuulik is in a four-way tie for second place and just one stroke back from leader Kelley Sullivan of Chico State (143, -1). He leads the field in par 3 scoring by two strokes after two rounds. In the first round, Tuulik fired three birdies in the front nine and recorded one bogey on the back nine.
Sophomore
Justin Vrzich improved on his opening round of 76 with a 73 to conclude day one with a 5-over 149 and is tied for 15th place. Junior
Jordan McBrayer is on his heels with a 6-over 150 (76-74) and is tied for 17th place.
Senior
Braeden Koran shot an impressive 72 in the first round but turned in an 83 in the next round to finish with a 11-over 155 and is in 38th place. Sophomore
Ryan Bisharat is in 45th place with a 22-over 166.
Cal State Monterey Bay leads the nine-team field through 36 holes of play with a team-total of 13-under 589 (296-293). Chico State is right behind the Otters with a 14-over 590 (302-288), followed by Cal State San Bernardino (596, +20); Cal State Dominguez Hills (597, +21) and Sonoma State (597, +21).
CSUSM will play alongside Stanislaus State and UC San Diego with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring can be found at
