SAN DIEGO – Competing in cold, foggy and windy weather, the Cal State San Marcos men's track team had numerous student-athletes move up in the school record books at the California Collegiate Open hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday.

Sophomore Tim Stalboerger's throw of 56.62 meters was just shy of breaking the school record in the javelin and was good enough for a fourth place finish.

The 4x100 relay team of junior Nate Hale, Jr., senior Giovanni Brooks, junior Tyler Luis and senior Brian Wright took third place and moved into third in the CSUSM record books with a time of 41.87.

For the second consecutive competition, junior Luigi Gonzalez posted a new school and personal record of 50.85 meters in the hammer. Senior Demetrius Howard also got a personal best in the hammer with a throw of 45.81 meters.

The Cougars next compete in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, April 7.
