BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Cal State San Marcos women's golf team is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation according to the GolfStat NCAA Division II rankings.
As a team, CSUSM has posted top-three finishes in all seven events this season, including three-consecutive first place team titles. Individually, a CSUSM golfer has finished first in every tournament this spring with sophomore
Jaime Jacob tying for first at the PLNU Reach 2018 to kick off the season. Junior
Bergen Benedict also shared a first place finish the next weekend at the CBU Lancer Joust. Jacob was the individual medalist in the last two tournaments, Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout and Augustana Spring Fling.
Three different Cougars have earned CCAA Golfer of the Week nods this season. Junior
Sarah Garcia claimed two in the fall (Sept. 13-19, Oct. 25-31) and Benedict once in the spring (Feb. 21-27). Jacob is a three-time honoree this season including this week, last week and Jan. 30-Feb. 6.
Jacob is ranked No. 12 overall in the country. She is also in the top 100 in statistical categories including fifth in par-3 scoring (3.07), 30th in par-4 scoring (4.22), 27th in par-5 scoring (5.02) and 46th in birdies (34).
Benedict ranks No. 78 in the nation, followed by Garcia at No. 83 and sophomore
Savannah Magallon at No. 104.
The Cougars conclude their regular season on April 2-3 at the West Texas A&M Desert Invitational.
