The Cougars tallied nine hits to Monterey Bay's 12 but stranded 10 runners and only recorded one extra base hit.
Three consecutive singles in the top of the fourth put a run on the board for the Otters. After a walk loaded the bases, CSUMB's Matt Urakami hit a grand slam over the right field wall on the first pitch he saw.
CSUMB recorded two runs in the fifth and three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Will Rosado's 2-run homer.
