SAN RAMON, Calif. – Robyn Alvara of the Cal State San Marcos softball team has been named All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Honorable Mention, the conference announced Friday at the CCAA Championship Banquet.

Alvara, a senior from Fresno, is the first CSUSM softball player to earn All-CCAA honors. The right fielder and utility player hit .315 (34-for-108) with 14 RBI, nine runs, seven doubles and a team-high four home runs in 2016.

Included in her campaign were eight multiple-RBI games, a hitting streak of seven games, and a reached-base streak of 16 games – all team-highs.

Her two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two against Cal State Monterey Bay on Mar. 12 helped the Cougars to a 6-3 victory.

She ended her two-year Cougar career on a high note against Cal State San Bernardino on the weekend of Apr. 22-23. Alvara combined to go 8-for-13 (.615) with five RBI and three home runs. She went deep twice in game one; in the season finale, Alvara was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a two-run home run.

In her two seasons at CSUSM, Alvara hit .331 in 83 starts and 88 appearances, with 16 doubles, nine home runs and 49 RBI. She will graduate with the fourth-highest slugging percentage (.506) and on-base percentage (.411) for players with two years in Cougar blue or more.
