CSUSM Leads All-West Region Honors; Albayati Named D2CCA West Region POY

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In the midst of a historic season, the Cal State San Marcos softball team led the West Region with the most All-Region selections across both the NFCA and the D2CCA teams highlighted by Jillian Albayati being selected the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year. 

Here is a look at the Cougar players that earned All-West Region awards for 2026:

Jordan Hill, P (D2CCA – 1st Team, NFCA – 1st Team)
Czar Fleischman, OF (D2CCA – 1st Team, NFCA – 1st Team)
Daleah Cardenas, P (D2CCA – 2nd Team, NFCA – 1st Team)
Jordan Elias, 2B (D2CCA – 2nd Team, NFCA – 2nd Team)
Zoe Karam, 3B (D2CCA – 2nd Team, NFCA – 2nd Team)

Albayati (Sr., UT) headlined the Cougars' selections as the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year after producing one of the top offensive seasons in NCAA Division II, leading the West Region and ranking No. 1 nationally with a .527 batting average while also pacing the region in hits (96), doubles (24), slugging percentage (.923) and on-base percentage (.605) while tying for the regional lead with 74 RBIs and ranking among the national leaders in total bases and home runs.

Hill (Gr., P) was a dominant force in the circle, earning first-team honors from both organizations while ranking among the national leaders with a 1.84 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP and a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.96) while also appearing in national rankings for hits allowed per seven innings (5.37) and posting a 17-4 record with 103 strikeouts in over 140 innings pitched.

Fleischman (Sr., OF) was a consensus first-team selection after ranking among the West Region leaders offensively with a .370 batting average, 68 hits, 16 doubles and nine home runs while also ranking among the national leaders with 119 total bases and 68 hits across Division II.

Cardenas (Fr., P) earned D2CCA second-team and NFCA first-team honors, standing out as the only freshman selected to the D2CCA All-West Region team. Behind a 19-3 record over 128.2 innings, she ranks among the top 20 nationally in ERA (1.69) and appearing among national leaders in WHIP (1.10), wins (19) and hits allowed per seven innings (5.88) during her breakout rookie campaign.

Elias (Sr., 2B) was a steady presence for CSUSM, earning second-team recognition from both organizations with a .361 batting average, 48 hits, 37 runs, 11 runs, two doubles and a team-best 16 stolen bases on the season.

Karam (Jr., 3B) also garnered second-team honors from both groups after emerging as one of the top power hitters in the West Region. She is the West Region home run leader with 18 this season and is tied with Albayati for the regional lead with 74 RBIs. Karam boasts the third-highest slugging percentage (.733) in the West Region. 

CSUSM (53-9) will host the NCAA Division II West Super Regional this week, facing Biola on Thursday at noon and Friday at 11 a.m. with an if-necessary game slated for 1:30 p.m.
