THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- CSUSM went 1-1 at the UC San Diego Thanksgiving Classic last weekend.
- The Cougars topped PacWest Conference powerhouse Azusa Pacific, 79-61, on Friday afternoon. CSUSM connected on 23-of-25 (92.0 percent) at the free throw line.
- CSUSM dropped an 80-49 decision to No. 23 Saginaw Valley State on Saturday afternoon.
- As a team, CSUSM ranks second blocked shots per game (4.00) and third in 3-pointers per game (6.4).
RUNDOWN OF CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO
- CSUSM is 1-1 overall against CSUSB.
- The teams first met on Nov. 26, 2011 in CSUSM's inaugural season. The Cougars trailed 26-23 at halftime but 13 points by Sidney Dobner in the second half gave CSUSM the 46-43 victory at UCSD's Thanksgiving Classic.
- The Coyotes were victorious in the meeting last season, defeating the Cougars 70-53 on their senior night.
- CSUSB was picked to finish 10th in the CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
CHICO STATE RUNDOWN
- The Cougars are 1-1 overall against the Wildcats
- In their first meeting in program history, CSUSM was victorious with a score of 71-63 at Chico State. A 29 point third quarter gave the Cougars all the cushion they needed to clinch the win.
- The Wildcats snagged a 59-56 decision over CSUSM on Jan. 21, 2016. Ashley Jenkins led all scorers with 16 points and Savannah Camp chipped in 15 points.
- Chico State was picked to finish fourth in the CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
THE CCAA CONFERENCE
- Cal State San Marcos is a part of the 13-team California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference, made up of 12 Cal State institutions and UC San Diego.
- The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II conferences in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference.
THE JIMENEZ FILE
- Head coach Renee Jimenez enters her second season in charge of the Cougar women's basketball team, a program that is only in its sixth season of existence.
- Jimenez has compiled a 132-89 record in her eight seasons coaching in the CCAA, spending two seasons at Cal State San Bernardino after a five-year stint at Cal State Monterey Bay.
