Cougars Conclude Regular Season with Four Games This Week

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team wraps up its 2015 regular season schedule this week with single games on Tuesday and Friday at home and a doubleheader at Biola on Wednesday.

San Diego Christian Preview
All-time vs. SDCC: 23-14
Last Game: W, 15-5 (March 10, 2015). CSUSM tallied a then season-high 19 hits and scored in every inning but one to collect the win and even the season series at 1-1.  Junior Brandon Bentson went 5-for-6 with four RBIs and two runs. Senior Dylan Costello and junior Stefan Miladinovich each hit home runs in the game.
 
Biola Preview
All-time vs. BU: 10-12
Last Meeting: L, 10-16 (April 14, 2015).  Plagued by fielding errors, the Cougars dropped their second game this season to the Eagles. CSUSM and Biola each tallied 14 hits in the contest with the deciding factor being a 6-1 error difference. Freshman Austin Ott was CSUSM's big hitter on the day, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs. Junior Stefan Miladinovich also had a good day at the plate, going 3-for-6 with a run and a stolen base.
 
Bethesda Preview
All-time vs. BUC: 8-1
Last Series: 4-0 Sweep (March 6-7, 2015); The Cougars outscored Bethesda 37-2 with two shutouts (5-1, 11-0, 11-0, 10-1) in the four-game series earlier this year. Freshman Tyler Place led the Cougars on day one, going 4-for-6 with two triples and a double. The following day, Stefan Miladinovich had a 5-for-9 performance at the plate that included three doubles and a triple.
 
Notes
The Cougars have outscored their opponents 350-193 and recorded nine shutouts … Stefan Miladinovich has tallied 25 multi-hit games and Ray Patchen has recorded 13 multi-RBI games this season … Emilio Esquibel has a share of the top spot in the CSUSM record books, joining James Dykstra (2103) as the single-season leader with nine wins. Esquibel has recorded five combined shutouts, pairing up with Justin Hertzmann for four of them.

Who We Are
CSUSM is an NAIA Division I institution which competes in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference. CSUSM was accepted into NCAA Division II Candidacy Year One and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the summer and is currently going through a three-year transition phase in order to gain full NCAA DII status for the 2017-18 season. The 2014-15 season will be the school's final year in the NAIA.
