Cougars Play Four Games in Four Days

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team has four games slated for this week with three at CSUSM Baseball Field before taking a much deserved weekend off.

Biola Preview
All-time vs. BU: 10-11
Last Meeting: L, 6-7 (Jan. 20, 2015).  The Cougars dropped a heartbreaker in their season opener to the Eagles this season, giving up the game-winning run in the top of the eighth.  Freshman Tyler Place went 4-for-4 with a double and junior Stefan Miladinovich hit a two-run homer in the contest.
 
Concordia University Irvine Preview
All-time vs. CUI: 6-11
Last Game: L, 9-10  (March 25, 2015). A five-run eighth inning had the Cougars thinking comeback, but a ninth inning wild pitch helped then-No. 17 CUI break the tie and steal the win 10-9 at CSUSM Baseball Field. Senior Ray Patchen went 3-for-4 with a home run and junior Brandon Bentson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a double.
 
La Sierra Preview
All-time vs. LSU: 11-0
Last Meeting: W, 19-6; W, 9-0 (March 22, 2015). The Cougars racked up four home runs and 25 hits in the doubleheader sweep at La Sierra earlier this season.  Senior Kory Smith tallied two of the home runs while Miladinovich and junior Jon Putnam each knocked one out. Juniors Emilio Esquibel and Manny Barragan each recorded wins.
 
Notes
The Cougars outscored their opponents 307-167 and recorded nine shutouts … Stefan Miladinovich has tallied 22 multi-hit games and Ray Patchen has recorded 13 multi-RBI games this season … Emilio Esquibel has a share of the top spot in the CSUSM record books, joining James Dykstra (2103) as the single-season leader with nine wins. Esquibel has recorded five combined shutouts, pairing up with Justin Hertzmann for four of them.

Who We Are
CSUSM is an NAIA Division I institution which competes in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference. CSUSM was accepted into NCAA Division II Candidacy Year One and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the summer and is currently going through a three-year transition phase in order to gain full NCAA DII status for the 2017-18 season. The 2014-15 season will be the school's final year in the NAIA.
