Kyle Montiel threw five innings of three-hit scoreless baseball and four relievers (

Emilio Esquibel and
Justin Hertzmann) gave up three combined hits in the final four innings. Senior
Denny Vigo led the Cougar offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.
SDCC Breakdown: After going 3-17 in the first 20 games of the season, the Hawks have put together a 4-2 record in the last two weeks including a three-game series win over Arizona Christian last weekend.
University of Sioux Falls PreviewAll-Time vs. USF: 12-4
Last Series: W, 3-1 (March 16-17, 2014). The Cougars outscored USF 33-13 in the four-game series last season that included a 9-0 shutout.
Brandon Bentson went 7-for-14 with five runs and two RBIs against USF.
USF Breakdown: USF opened the season dropping its first seven games before turning on the offense with a 18-3 win over William Jewell on Sunday, March 8. Freshman outfielder Matthew Minnick earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week after hitting .615 last week.

Who We AreCSUSM is an NAIA Division I institution which competes in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference. CSUSM was accepted into NCAA Division II Candidacy Year One and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the summer and is currently going through a three-year transition phase in order to gain full NCAA DII status for the 2017-18 season. The 2014-15 season will be the school's final year in the NAIA.
