CSUSM Cooks Up Blowout vs. Johnson & Wales (Colo.), Comes Back from New Mexico with Two Wins

Box Score ESPANOLA, N.M. – Four players finished in double figures and all 12 Cougars got to see time on the floor in the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team's 94-60 victory over Johnson & Wales (Colo.) on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Gym.

Cassie Damyanovich led the Cougars in scoring for the second straight night with 19 points, Sherika Miller and Heather Thompson each registered double-doubles, and CSUSM dished out a season-high 25 assists while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor. The Cougars shot 57.1 percent in the second half.

The Cougars will leave the Northern New Mexico Classic with a pair of wins while improving to 11-16 overall. CSUSM downed Northern New Mexico College, 77-65, on Friday evening.

Miller finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Thompson contributed 12 points and a dozen boards.

Lindsey Uyematsu went 4-of-8 from behind the arc, tallying 17 points. Uyematsu matched Miller with a team-high five assists, and even brought down five rebounds.

Kimberly Kipp added eight points, Shayd Bowers had five and Briana Higgins had four.

The back-to-back victories mark the first time the Cougars have won consecutive games since Nov. 23-24, when CSUSM took both games against Pacific Union and Corban at the TCSA/DAP Hoops Classic.

The Cougars will have a week off before hosting South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Monday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. at MiraCosta College.

Johnson & Wales drops to 10-17 overall.
