Strong Finish CSUSM went 6-2 to close out the 2013-14 season that included bringing home the program's second Association of Independent Institution (A.I.I.) Tournament title in three years. The Cougars made its first appearance in the NAIA Division I championship, falling to No. 1 Vanguard in the first round. In its inaugural season of 2012, CSUSM competed in the NAIA Division II Championship.
Commanding Leadership ReturnsWith the graduation of only one starter, the Cougars return the core of their team from the 2013-14 season.

Mackenzie Harnett and
Heather Thompson were on the CSUSM women's basketball inaugural team in 2012-13 season. Thompson became the first player in program history to be named NAIA All-America after receiving honorable mention honors last season. Harnett collected A.I.I. Defensive Player of the Year while Thompson, Damyanovich and Alvarado each earned all-conference honors.

Last time vs. La Verne: W, 82-61 on Jan. 9, 2012 at La Verne. The Cougars offense exploded against the Leopards with five scorers reaching double-digits. As a team, CSUSM forced 22 turnovers and held La Verne's offense to 29 percent from the field.
La Verne Breakdown: The La Verne Leopards, competing at the NCAA Division III level, finished last season with a 13-12 overall record and 8-8 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play. Home Opener Nov. 8 vs. La Sierra The Cougars will begin their 2014-15 home season on Saturday, Nov. 8 on their home court at MiraCosta College with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. Just a day shy of a year ago, the Cougars snagged a 20-point win over La Sierra University in their second home game of the 2013-14 season.
Homecoming, Nov. 22 vs. VanguardCSUSM men's basketball will take on defending national champion Vanguard in the school's annual Homecoming Game on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars beat the Lions twice in 2013-14.
