Box Score MONTGOMERY, W.Va. – Heather Thompson registered a game-high 18 points and pulled-down 11 rebounds as No. 4-seed Cal State San Marcos cruised past No. 5-seed Morris College (S.C.), 86-50, in the quarterfinals of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division I Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday evening at Neal Baisi Athletic Center.
CSUSM (13-18) advances to play No. 1-seed Robert Morris (Ill.) (17-12) in the semifinals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. PST with a trip to the A.I.I. final on the line. Fans can watch the action live

Morris ends the season at 2-27 overall.
Thompson went 9-of-13 from the field and
Danielle Cooper returned from nearly three months off with a foot injury to corral a game-high 16 rebounds, nine of them on the offensive end. Thompson and Cooper helped the Cougars outscore the Hornets in the paint, 47-22, and outrebound the Hornets, 56-32.
Cassie Damyanovich and
Nanice Kollee tallied 14 points apiece and
Mechel'la Logan added nine. The Cougars reached the 50-percent (38-of-76) shooting threshold for the fourth time this season.
CSUSM took a narrow lead early on before using an 11-0 run to take a 16-point lead on Logan's jumper in the paint at the 7:22 mark. Kollee followed shortly after with a basket and Damyanovich added a jumper from the baseline to help the Cougars take a 19-point lead into the break.
Kollee hit a 3-pointer to give the Cougars a 26-point advantage before a pair of free throws from
Jessica Harris made it 58-30 at the 13:10 mark of the second half.
Kollee's jump shot with 5:16 left handed CSUSM its first 30-point lead before a 6-0 run capped off by another pair of shots from the stripe by Harris gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the game, 86-47, with 1:34 left.
CSUSM has never faced top-seeded RMC.
The Cougars are seeking their second berth to the NAIA Tournament and second A.I.I. title in just the second year of the program.
