The Week That Was
CSUSM went 1-2 last week in Idaho, taking down Warner Pacific before falling to Southern Oregon and Lewis-Clark State … Cassie Damyanovich went 8-of-13 from the field for a game-high 22 points against WPU … She averaged 17 PPG over the weekend and currently leads the team with 15.5 PPG … CSUSM was tied 54-54 with SOU in the second half, but SOU used a 19-0 to go up by 73-54 with 2:43 left … The Cougars cut a 28-point second-half deficit down to nine against LCSC … Heather Thompson and Sherika Miller both had double-doubles against LCSC … It was the third time in program history in which two Cougar players had double-doubles in the same contest.

The Cougars are 2-3 through their first five games for the second year in a row … Melaya Gaines ranks sixth in NAIA Division I in offensive rebounding average (5.00) … Damyanovich's 3.5 3-pointers per game rank eighth in NAIA DI … The Cougars rank in the NAIA top 20 in rebounds per game (12^th, 49.0), offensive rebounds per game (15^th (17.4), defensive rebounds a game (16^th, 31.6) and total blocks (18^th, 18) … Miller is shooting 90.9% from the free-throw line (10-of-11) … Thompson and Gaines are averaging over 10 rebounds per game … Alexandria Alvarado leads the Cougars with 14 assists and seven steals through the first five games.

Menlo College competes in NAIA Division II and is currently ranked No. 24 … The Oaks have traded wins and losses to open 2013-14, most recently taking down Concordia (Ore.), 68-55 … Vanessa D'Amico led Menlo with 23 points in the win … Laurel Donnenwirth and Vanessa D'Amico are averaging 15.8 and 15.0 points per game, respectively … Jolise Limcaco ranks fifth in NAIA DII with 6.4 assists per game … Menlo downed CSUSM twice last season, 73-57 on Nov. 17 in San Marcos and 71-55 on Dec. 1 in Atherton … Limcaco averaged 20.5 points in those two games … CSUSM is 1-2 all-time against Menlo … The Cougars' lone win was 63-62 thriller on Dec. 19, 2011.
