Final Results
PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The Cal State San Marcos women's golf team took home its first tournament title of the year by winning the eight-team Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) Fall Invitational for the second straight season on Monday at Talking Rock Golf Course.
Taylor Coover took home medalist honors with a three-round total of 6-over-par 222, one stroke better than ERAU's Lauren Kruszewski. Coover, a freshman from Antioch, Calif., followed a first-round 74 with a 73 on Sunday. She shot 75 during Monday's final round, holding on despite Kruszewski's 74.
CSUSM (922, +58) finished 21 strokes ahead of runner-up Redlands and posted the lowest team score of the tournament with an 18-over-par 306 in the final round. The Cougars shot 309 (+21) and 307 (+19) in the first two rounds on Sunday.
Junior
Vanessa Chap closed with a 75 to finish third in the individual standings at 11-over-par 227. Chap went 77-75 during the first two rounds.
Sophomore
Alyssa Waite finished 10 strokes back of Chap at 21-over-par 237 (79-80-78).
Lisa Copeland went 84-79-78 (241, +25) while
Victoria Smith posted 79-71-84 for a three-day total of 28-0ver-par 244.
The Cougars now need four more wins this season to match last year's record win total of five. Their next opportunity to add to this year's total is the UC Riverside Fall Invite, Oct. 7-8 at Oak Quarry Golf Club.
