Where We At?
The Cougars have dropped four straight since winning five in a row between Dec. 7 and 18. Roosevelt University (Ill.) topped the Cougars 66-48 on Dec. 21 before CSUSM fell in three consecutive games at Dec. 27-29's Vegas Post Christmas Classic hosted by Carroll (Mont.). Sherika Miller is averaging 13.0 PPG and 5.3 RPG over the last four. The Cougars have struggled to keep hold of the ball, committing 86 turnovers to just 25 total assists during the skid.

The Road Ahead
After back-to-back home games against TMC and Simpson (Calif.), the Cougars will host just two more games at MiraCosta College the rest of the way (Point Loma Nazarene, Jan. 23 & New Hope Christian, Feb. 9). Meanwhile, CSUSM will hit the road for five more games, including three against Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) opponents and two against NCAA squads. So far this season, CSUSM is 2-7 on the road and 4-3 at home.

The Master's Plan
The Mustangs have won all 13 games in which they have played and currently sit atop the GSAC standings ahead of No. 3 Vanguard and No. 4 Westmont. TMC beat the CSUSM on Nov. 16, 68-47, in Santa Clarita. Jacquelyn Marshall leads the Mustangs at 13.3 PPG while Theresa Brown averages 10.4 PPG.

CSUSM-Simpson Recap
Thursday's Simpson-CSUSM matchup will be a rematch of their Nov. 30 tilt in Redding, in which the Red Hawks edged the Cougars on Ariassa Wilson's jumper with seven seconds left, 58-57. Anna Nguyen had 12 points and five rebounds, while Miller tallied 10 points and eight boards.  CSUSM held Simpson to just 24.7% from the floor, but committed 41 turnovers to keep the Red Hawks in the game.
