Women’s Golf climbs into tie for 14th at Nationals

The Cal State San Marcos Women's Golf team jumped two spots to 14th after the second of four rounds of the 2012 NAIA National Championships at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tennessee. The Cougars carded a 311 Wednesday and improved six shots from Tuesday's opening round.

Felicia Titus continued to impress in the tournament, following up her first round 77 with a 76 on Wednesday, leaving her currently in 25th place individually. Freshman Vanessa Chap had a superb day on the links as well, shooting a second round 75 to jump from 65th to 38th place overall, and record the lowest round for the Cougars Wednesday.

 Lisa Copeland shot a 79 on the afternoon, and Tess Russell finished her round with an 81 to round out scoring positions for San Marcos on the day. Both Copeland and Russell and tied for 72nd overall at the tournament's halfway point.

Stephanie Cole is in 90th after her round of 84. The Cougars will begin play Thursday at 8:50 local time, or 5:50 am PST when Stephanie Cole tees off, and each of the remaining Cougars will tee off in 8 minute intervals after her.
