The Cal State San Marcos Women's Basketball team is headed to the A.I.I. Conference Championships in South Dakota! In just their first season as a program, Coach Sheri Jennum's squad posted a winning record with the 2
nd hardest schedule in NAIA Division II. Not only that, but they qualified for the postseason, and are just one game away from qualifying for the NAIA National Championships.
The 2012 State Farm A.I.I. Conference Championships will take place in Madison, South Dakota at the Dakota State Memorial Fieldhouse starting Friday, February 24
th through Sunday, February 26
th.
Tournament Bracket
A play-in game between the #4 seed Valley City State (17-13) and host Dakota State (7-21) will take place Friday evening at 6pm.
The #3 seed Cal State San Marcos Cougars (16-14) will kick off the first semifinal against #2 seed Indiana Northwest (19-11) at 1:00 PM Central Time, or 11:00 AM Pacific. The second semifinal game will take place between the winner of Friday's #4 vs. #5 match-up and #1 seed Jamestown (26-3).
Each semifinal winner from Saturday will earn an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships in Sioux City, Iowa, and will play on Sunday to determine this year's A.I.I. Conference Champion. Sunday's Championship match will take place at 4 PM local time, or 2:00 PM Pacific.
Jamestown is currently ranked 7
th in the NAIA National polls, and both Cal State San Marcos and Indiana Northwest are receiving votes. CSUSM has won 5 of their last 6 games heading into the postseason.
