The Cal State San Marcos Women's Basketball team brought their 4-game winning streak on the road to a tough Vanguard team ranked 12^th in the NAIA, but ultimately couldn't pull off the upset, falling 61-48 Thursday evening.

The Cougars have been playing excellent defense on their recent hot-streak, and that continued against the Vanguard, holding the host Lions to just 33% shooting. Unfortunately, CSUSM also had a tough time finding the basket against a very good 19-5 Lions team, shooting 31%. The Cougars hit 16 of 18 free throws on the game though, almost 89%.

Justine Chacon led San Marcos on offense with 13 points, and Sarah Jackson added 10 rebounds in the loss.

CSUSM (15-14) has one more regular season game on the schedule, playing on the road this Saturday against Chapman at 5:00 pm.
