The Cal State San Marcos Women's Basketball Team won handily at home against La Sierra Saturday night, using another brilliant defensive effort to secure their 4th consecutive victory.

The Cougars have been playing lights-out defense lately, holding their opponent to under 30% shooting for their 3rd straight game, and posted a season best 35 points allowed against La Sierra. The Golden Eagles only managed to shoot 16% against a stingy San Marcos defense.

CSUSM led from the opening basket and never looked back Saturday night, leading by 10 or more for much of the first half, but took just a 28-21 lead into the locker rooms at halftime. However, the Lady Cougars made a statement in the second half, outscoring the Golden Eagles 42-14 after the break.

Cassie Damyanovich caught fire in the second half of the contest, hitting four 3-pointers and scoring a team high 16 points for the Cougars. Sidney Dobner contributed 13 points, and Danielle Cooper nearly got herself a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Justine Chacon, the team's only senior, was recognized before the game on Senior Night, and added 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. In all, CSUSM shot 46.7% on field goals for the evening.

The Cougars are now 15-13 with the victory, and have two regular season games remaining before the A.I.I. Conference Tournament in South Dakota.
