Box Score LAS VEGAS – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team fell in its second game of the Vegas Post Christmas Classic, 77-57, to Montana Tech on Friday night.
Sherika Miller and
Heather Thompson scored 19 and 11 points, respectively, to lead CSUSM (8-12).
Sarah Jackson pitched in with seven points, seven boards and a pair of assists.
Jessica Harris also had seven points.
Montana Tech (7-5) shot 56.7% from the floor while holding the Cougars to 33.9%.
The Orediggers were paced by Mandy Machinal's 26 points and Laini Kalumbi's 23.
The teams traded the lead out of the gate before MTT took an eight-point lead at the 12:21 mark. CSUSM battled to get within two on
Anna Nguyen's two free throws, but MTT responded with a 19-4 run over the final 7:44 of the first half to take a 15-point lead into the break.
The Orediggers started the second stanza with a 9-1 stretch to take a 24-point lead.
Thompson brought the Cougars the closest they would be in the second half, making a free throw to make the score 48-30 at the 13:51 mark.
CSUSM plays its final game of the Vegas Post Christmas Classic tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. against host Carroll College.
