SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Cal State San Marcos head women's basketball coach Sheri Jennum has added another assistant to her staff for the 2012-13 season. Erica Kirwan was announced as a volunteer assistant coach by Jennum on Friday.
Kirwan joins newly-appointed head assistant women's coach
Crystal Harris and fellow volunteer assistant coach Sabrina Gonzalez on Jennum's staff. She will assist with all phases of the program, including recruiting, scouting, practice execution and game coaching.
In her most recent coaching stop, Kirwan served as an assistant at NCAA Division III Rhode Island College under head coach Marcus Reilly from 2008-10.
Kirwan played four seasons of basketball at Bentley College under Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Hall of Famer Barbara Stevens. Playing for an elite NCAA Div. II program, she helped the Falcons garner three NCAA national tournament appearances, reaching the Sweet 16 twice.
As a senior in 2007-08, she served as a co-captain, playing in 27 games and starting 25 of them. Kirwan averaged 7.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. She scored a season-high 25 points vs. Southern Connecticut on Feb. 26, while hauling in 14 rebounds on three separate occasions.
Kirwan is a 2004 graduate of North Kingstown High School in Rhode Island where she was a three-time all-state selection. She scored over 1,500 points in her career for the Skippers.
She earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Bently in 2008 and completed her MBA at the University of Rhode Island.
