The Cal State San Marcos Women's Basketball team lost a tough one Thursday night to Biola University, falling 56-53 at Mira Costa College in Oceanside. The first half was closely contested, but the visiting Eagles got out to a fast start in the 2nd half, going on a 10-2 run in the first 4 minutes of the period. The Eagles were aided by a strong low post effort from Adijat Adams, who had foul trouble in the 1st half, but recovered in the 2nd half to finish with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Biola guard Shareece Reece controlled the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds, 4 of them offensive.

The Cougars got a strong 2nd half effort from Justine Chacon, who brought the game back in reach in the final minute with three consecutive free throws after being fouled from beyond the arc. Chacon finished with 15 points to lead all scorers, and shot 6 of 7 from the line. Sidney Dobner had 7 steals in the game to go along with 11 points, but CSUSM turned the ball over 21 times, which helped begin the run the Eagles had early in the 2nd half.

Cal State San Marcos, now 11-13, will play their next game against Chapman at home on Saturday, January 28th.
