Box Score
Following a 10-day layoff, Cal State San Marcos women's basketball went on the road to face a tough Master's College squad Tuesday night, losing 57-47.
CSUSM drops to 5-7 on the season. Master's improves to 6-4.
As has been the case at times this year, the Cougars had trouble generating team offense in the half court, instead relying on individual efforts. CSUSM had just 6 assists as a team on the night compared to 32 turnovers, creating too high of a mountain to climb despite the efforts of Sidney Dobner and Michel'la Logan.
Dobner scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-20 shooting to go along with a game-high 7 rebounds, keeping her squad in the game. Logan, meanwhile, was an efficient 5-for-8 from the field, scoring 14 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
When combined with Cassie Damyanovich's 6 points on 3-for-7 shooting, that trio of players scored 40 of the squad's 47 points on 16-for-35 shooting, while the rest of the team scored 7 points on 2-for-15 shooting.
Still, CSUSM held a 22-18 lead at the half thanks to tight defense, but Master's would break through in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 39-25 and pulling away late to win.
The Cougars will be back at home and look to prove their resilience once again this Thursday against local rival Point Loma. Tip-off is at 7:30 PM at MiraCosta College in Oceanside.
