The Cougars won a closely contested game 63-62 against Menlo College at Mira Costa College Monday afternoon. The Cougars trailed by 10 at the half way point 44-34, but outscored the Oaks 29-18 in the second half to better their record to 7-9 on the year.
Lady Cougar point guard
Sidney Dobner led the comeback effort with 20 points, shooting 8-15 from the floor. Dobner was also key in transition totaling 6 assists and 2 steals that led to fast break baskets. Dobner also led the team with 8 rebounds, 2 of which were offensive boards.
The Cougars 2nd half revival was aided by the play of substitutes Michel'La Logan and
Danielle Cooper. Logan scored 11 points and gathered 4 rebounds in just 20 minutes on the court. Cooper played most of the 2nd half and totaled 12 points and 4 rebounds.
The Cougars also got help down low from their starting forward
Gabriell Munsch who who scored 5 tough buckets in the paint and finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
As a team the CSUSM shot 49% from the field and won the game in transition capitalizing on 21 Menlo College turnovers.
The Cougars play their next game Wednesday December 21st at 7:30 PM against the University of La Verne at Mira Costa College.
