MacDonald led the CSUSM's pitching staff with a 0.60 ERA while tallying a 2-0 record with 13 strikeouts and allowing just one run in 15 innings and three starts. He began the season with six strikeouts in 4.0 innings while allowing just two hits and one walk against Biola. In his outing against Montana State Billings, he recorded five strikeouts while allowing three hits in 5.0 innings. MacDonald helped CSUSM earn the series win against Concordia University Irvine with two strikeouts while allowing one run on five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings.
