Vanessa Chap has been named the CSUSM Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of April 2015. Chap, a senior out of San Diego’s Torrey Pines High, posted a school-record 36-hole score of 143 (-1, 73-70) in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Championship to win the individual title by one stroke. She is the only CSUSM player to win an individual conference title.
In April, she averaged 74.00 strokes per round and registered two top-five finishes. Chap has played more rounds and tournaments than any other player in team history and she currently holds the lowest career scoring average (78.56) of any CSUSM player who has played three or more seasons.
The Cougars took runner-up at the A.I.I. Conference Championship. The women’s team will compete in the NAIA National Championship in at Savannah Quarters in Pooler, Ga., May 12-15.
